In his work, José yuxtaposes the child’s innocence vis-à-vis adulthood complexities. The can toy-telephone is a leitmotif that invites the beholder to witness possibilities and contradictions, thus the title of the series “My eyes hear you.” This is a never-ending questioning open to new reflections, and is also the main reason why he engages in creating revolving paintings that can be seen or read in different positions.

José has published three children books about Puerto Rican Culture with reading and artistic exercises. He also works as a teacher for the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE).
